CommonDANCE is a large-scale work created specifically for Greenwich’s historic Borough Hall (gDA) by one of Britain’s leading choreographers, Rosemary Lee, with a specially commissioned score by Terry Mann. Using the space as a symbolic ‘common ground’, Rosemary brings together a cast of four professional, four recent graduate apprentices and over 40 non-professional dancers aged 8 – 83, with a choir of 70 young people from Finchley Children’s Music Group. This bold production promises to be both poignant and telling, walking the margin between the traditional and the contemporary. Meet the Artist: Fri 30 October
CommonDANCE Seminar: Sun 1 November Professor Theresa Buckland lead an open discussion with Rosemary Lee exploring the broad range of influences behind the creation of CommonDANCE. Exploring notions of common ground, communities dancing, traditional and indigenous forms, commonality and identity and including notebooks, video extracts and other resources the full depth of Rosemary’s creative process is revealed. Tickets (includes the show on any day): £20 & £17 (conc). 020 8293 9741 photos: Hugo Glendinning |
