| InterChange Studios ‘Mapping Processes’ was the first of two public seminars that focused on recent DVD, CD and online process mapping publications by ResCen Research Associate Artists. The second seminar was ‘Navigating Process’ held in October 2007. As part of their on-going work with ResCen, the Artists have developed a variety of ways in which to reveal particular aspects of their creative processes with reference to specific work. Many of these ‘mappings’ can be seen on this website. This seminar included three focused discussions with Ghislaine Boddington, Shobana Jeyasingh and Errollyn Wallen about their most recent publication work with ResCen, together with a more general discussion about the implications of revealing process through the creation of another product: a publication. Ghislaine Boddington talked with web designer Coral Hyde about the development of her pages The Weave and how this joint design process prompted specific reflections on, and mind mapping of, her collaborative, interauthored practice. The Weave shows the link between interauthorship and digital practice through the examination of a series of interactive, telematic projects that Ghislaine has directed over the last five years. Shobana Jeyasingh and writer Sanjoy Roy discussed Shobana’s particular creative and practical imperatives that she faced in the process of creating a site-specific dance work, Foliage Chorus, for the opening of new artsdepot building in North London. They also discussed how her approach to making this work has been examined in her ResCen DVD Animating Architecture: Foliage Chorus. Errollyn Wallen talked with sound engineer Gerry O’Riordan about her recent experience of examining the recording process that she undertook for her first solo album Errollyn. They discussed their involvement in the ResCen CD publication About Errollyn: reflections on the artist as composer and performer and how the particular environment of the recording studio, and the process of recording influenced the development of a final product. Ghislaine’s new web pages The Weave, Shobana’s DVD Animating Architecture: Foliage Chorus, and Errollyn’s About Errollyn: reflections on the artist as composer and performer were shown publicly for the first time after a discussion about the works with the audience. Speakers: Ghislaine Boddington and Coral Hyde, Shobana Jeyasingh and Sanjoy Roy, Errollyn Wallen and Gerry O’Riordan This event was supported by NESTA
