Rosemary Lee – the making of Passage | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Introduction by Professor Christopher Bannerman, Head of ResCen Welcome to the Passage chapter of the ResCen website. What follows is the result of several months of work by Rosemary Lee, a ResCen Research Associate who collaborated with research student Niki Pollard and web designer Roberto Battista in order to reflect on the process of making the stage work Passage (2001) which was commissioned by The South Bank originally as a Millennium project. This is the first contribution to the ResCen website that has involved the tracking of a creative process over a period of months, in addition to the time taken to engage in reflective consideration following the performance of the work. In common with all of ResCen's work, the artist plays a key role in all of this; choosing how best to re-present their process on the website. I should also note that support for the making of the performance work is detailed in the pages that follow, but support for the final stages of producing this web posting has come from NESTA, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts, as part of a two year programme entitled Navigating the Unknown in the Creative Process. It would not have been possible to complete this task without their support and I must take this opportunity to extend my thanks to them. Over the coming months we intend to produce further web chapters which present insights into the creative processes of our Research Associates and I am delighted that we have begun this work with Passage. |
